Describe the device or account arrangement

Identify the particular account, device or record needed and what you personally know about access. Distinguish an earlier shared arrangement from current permission. Do not assume co-ownership or a saved password provides lawful authority for every action or overrides a release term.

Preserve existing records without changing access

Keep relevant material you already lawfully hold unchanged and identify its source. Do not delete, alter or enter another person’s records to settle the dispute. If material is unavailable, explain the gap instead of contacting a restricted person or using someone else to obtain an explanation.

Separate evidence needs from family or property requests

State whether you need a record for the criminal review or help with a practical family or property arrangement. Keep any related family order available. The appropriate route and representation scope need assessment; protection advice for a person seeking safety is a different role and should be stated at first contact.

Understand the legal questions before choosing a response

The relationship context does not replace review of the actual assault count and evidence. Contact, home and other restrictions must be read from the current terms, alongside any related family order. A wish to reconcile or an invitation does not override a criminal restriction. Advice about the charge and any separate family-law work require their own assessment and agreed scope.

Preparing for the first conversation

  • Describe the device or account arrangement
  • Preserve existing records without changing access
  • Separate evidence needs from family or property requests

Keep the initial website enquiry brief. Do not upload or send sensitive documents through the form; arrange any document review directly with the firm.

You do not need every item before getting in touch. Mention any approaching court or response date.

Common questions

Does a saved password override a no-contact or other release term?

No. Follow current terms and do not assume stored access is permission for every action. Explain the account arrangement and particular need to counsel.

Can a relative obtain the record by contacting the restricted person for me?

Do not arrange communication that would contravene the terms. Identify the needed record and gap to counsel so lawful steps can be assessed.

Does an invitation allow contact prohibited by release terms?

No. Follow the current terms unless lawfully changed. Keep the invitation available for counsel, but do not treat it as permission to breach a restriction.

Does criminal representation automatically include a family case?

No. This website describes Aftermath Law’s criminal lawyer services. Identify every relevant order so counsel can assess its effect on the criminal matter. Obtain separate advice from a family-law practitioner for the family case; criminal representation does not change obligations in that proceeding.

Book Your Free Consultation

For a private conversation with counsel: Discuss the allegation and how contact, housing or parenting restrictions are affecting you, including a safe way for the firm to communicate with you.

The free consultation with Dildeep Sahi focuses on your situation, options and potential representation. Consultations are available in English, Punjabi and Hindi. Any document review or further work should be arranged separately with the firm.

Aftermath Law accepts Legal Aid Ontario certificates for criminal law matters. Contact the firm to discuss your certificate and whether we can assist.

Office visits are by appointment only. Scheduled consultations are separate from urgent telephone assistance; an immediate answer or response is not guaranteed. This form is not an emergency service.

Keep your enquiry brief and omit confidential documents or a detailed history. Submitting the form does not create a lawyer-client relationship; the firm must complete an initial review and conflict check before agreeing to act.
