Meet Dildeep Sahi
Dildeep Sahi founded Aftermath Law so that people charged with a crime have a lawyer they can reach and understand. He practises only criminal defence. Questions people ask us first
Should I talk to the police?
When you are arrested or detained, you have the right to remain silent and the right to speak with a lawyer without delay (Charter ss. 7 and 10(b)). Ask to call your lawyer before answering questions. You can give police our 24/7 number: (647) 223-1980.
Do I have to attend my first court date?
Not always. In many cases your lawyer can file a designation and appear for you on early dates. Speak with us before your date. Missing court without an arrangement can lead to a warrant and a separate failure to appear charge.
Can my charge be withdrawn?
Do you accept Legal Aid?
Yes. We accept Legal Aid Ontario certificates for criminal matters. Legal Aid Ontario decides eligibility based on your finances and the seriousness of the charge. If you are not sure whether you qualify, call us and we will walk you through it.
How much does a criminal lawyer cost?
The first consultation is free. Private clients receive a flat fee for their charge, set out in writing before work begins, and payment plans are available.
Will this give me a criminal record?
A charge is not a conviction. A withdrawal or a discharge is not a conviction either, although a discharge stays on police records for a period of time. Fingerprints and photos taken at the time of charge can often be destroyed on request after a withdrawal. We explain where your case could land and what each outcome means for your record.
