Criminal Harassment Lawyer in Toronto

Aftermath Law provides criminal harassment advice to Toronto clients. If a harassment case involves several people, keep each actual allegation and evidence source identifiable. For defence advice, counsel needs to see which communication or other conduct is alleged in each count rather than a combined account that loses the differences.

Use the actual counts and people identified

Keep the complete charge papers and available disclosure. Make a separate entry for each count, noting the person and period identified and the conduct alleged. If the connection is unclear, mark that uncertainty. Do not assume that every name in a conversation represents the same role or allegation.

Connect each source to the allegation it addresses

Identify the account, statement or record and who supplied it. Distinguish a message addressed to someone from evidence about what they received or observed. If one file is relevant to several entries, refer to the same intact original and explain its coverage; do not turn repeated copies into assumed separate events.

Keep shared events and different accounts visible

Place the entries on one chronology while retaining each source and its limits. Explain what you know directly and what comes from another person. Counsel must assess the actual conduct and context for each allegation. Continue following current restrictions; do not contact people to align accounts or resolve a gap yourself.

Understand the legal questions before choosing a response

The actual conduct category, dates and context matter to a criminal-harassment allegation. A fixed number of messages is not a substitute for legal assessment, and different alleged conduct may raise different questions. Preserve complete communications and identify the source of each account. Current restrictions apply while the allegation is reviewed; do not contact another person to obtain a preferred explanation.

Preparing for the first conversation

  • Use the actual counts and people identified
  • Connect each source to the allegation it addresses
  • Keep shared events and different accounts visible

Keep the initial website enquiry brief. Do not upload or send sensitive documents through the form; arrange any document review directly with the firm.

You do not need every item before getting in touch. Mention any approaching court or response date.

Common questions

How should I identify a record used for more than one allegation?

Keep the intact original and list the actual count references or passages it appears to address. Explain what it covers and what remains unclear rather than presenting each copy as a new event.

What if I cannot tell who received the communication?

Mark that uncertainty and identify what the available record actually shows. Keep source accounts separate and raise the gap with counsel; do not make prohibited contact to obtain an answer.

Does the number of messages alone decide the allegation?

No. The alleged conduct, dates and context need assessment. Do not apply a fixed message-count rule to every harassment allegation.

Can I delete repeated messages to simplify the account?

Preserve the complete originals. Make a separate chronology or note for counsel, rather than deleting or editing material that may affect the context.
