Check residence and any existing file
As a general rule, either spouse must have lived in the province for a full year immediately before applying there. A move to Waterloo does not erase an earlier family proceeding. Bring the residence timeline and existing court documents so jurisdiction can be reviewed.
Separate agreement from the divorce order
Agreeing to separate does not itself end a marriage. A court must grant the divorce and satisfy the applicable requirements. Identify whether you are seeking only divorce or additional relief, and distinguish signed agreements from terms still being discussed.

Possibly, but the other claims and actual positions must also be reviewed. Agreement to end the marriage does not show that financial and parenting issues are settled.
Will a separation agreement automatically produce a divorce certificate?
No. The agreement and the court process have different purposes. The required application and evidence must still be completed before a divorce order and later certificate can be obtained.
