Punjabi Fraud Lawyer in Mississauga

Dildeep Sahi provides fraud-defence consultations in Punjabi at Aftermath Law’s Mississauga office. You can explain the original conversation, the money involved and what you understood at the time before deciding what advice or representation to arrange.

Punjabi consultations and court interpretation
Dildeep Sahi provides consultations in Punjabi, English and Hindi. Tell the firm which language you prefer when arranging the appointment. Speaking Punjabi with your lawyer does not make Punjabi the language of the court proceeding or book a court interpreter.
For an Ontario Court of Justice criminal appearance, contact the courthouse before your court date to request an interpreter, or tell the judge or justice of the peace at the appearance. That court provides interpreters without charge. Confirm arrangements separately from your Punjabi consultation. Documents or evidence in another language may require a separate translation; confirm what is needed before paying for one.
Separate the fraud allegation from the payment dispute
Section 380 of the Criminal Code concerns defrauding someone through deceit, falsehood or other fraudulent means. An unpaid loan, a delayed project or a disagreement over a refund does not, by itself, establish that offence. Start with the alleged representation or transaction: what was said, by whom, when, and what happened to the payment. Keep a civil demand separate from police papers. A Punjabi discussion can help identify whether the disagreement concerns a promise, an instruction, a completed transfer or something different; counsel must assess the actual allegation and evidence.
Keep the words used when the money changed hands
Preserve complete Punjabi messages, voice notes and any English correspondence that you lawfully have, including the surrounding discussion. Tell counsel which words you understood as a loan, deposit, gift, commission or payment for work, and why. Explain who was speaking and whether another person relayed the message. Your explanation and the original record are different things: keep them separate. Do not rewrite the conversation into a cleaner version, edit a voice note or replace the original with a relative’s summary. A consultation in Punjabi does not itself produce a translation suitable for court; discuss any translation work separately.
Build the sequence before offering a conclusion
For each disputed payment, identify the date, recipient, account used, purpose discussed and what you knew at that point. Note work completed, goods supplied, later changes and any request to cancel or repay. A transfer confirmation may show that money moved without explaining the full agreement. Keep receipts, invoices and original records you may lawfully access, and list gaps rather than guessing what they contain. Counsel can use the chronology to plan an evidence review and identify the disputed issues. Leave account numbers, passwords and detailed financial records out of the website enquiry.
Address police contact and current papers first
If police have requested a meeting or documents, note the officer’s details, the request and the proposed time, and obtain advice before giving a voluntary account. Tell the firm about any statement or records already provided. If charged, keep the exact count, release papers and required dates together. Follow the current attendance instructions and conditions; a request for a Punjabi consultation does not change them. Use the court named in your papers rather than assuming that a Mississauga matter will be heard at a particular courthouse.
Understand the risk before proposing repayment or a plea
Fraud can carry imprisonment, and the amount and precise form of the charge affect the applicable penalty. A repayment proposal is not a decision about guilt or a guarantee that the prosecution will end. Keep any offer or payment record for counsel and raise restrictions on contact before approaching another person. Once the evidence and prosecution position are available, ask what the options mean, what work is needed and what remains uncertain. Do not agree to a statement or plea you do not understand; a Punjabi explanation should help you make informed instructions, not promise a result.
Arrange Punjabi advice at the Mississauga office
Aftermath Law’s office is at 250 Dundas Street West, Suite 402, Mississauga, with visits by appointment. Dildeep Sahi personally provides consultations in Punjabi, English and Hindi. The free initial consultation concerns your situation, options and potential representation; a full transaction review, further advice and court work are arranged separately after the firm considers the matter, conflicts and availability and agrees to act. Mention your next known date and preferred language. Tell the firm about an existing lawyer or Legal Aid Ontario certificate, and arrange delivery of sensitive records directly.
Preparing for the first conversation
- Identify the alleged promise or transaction and the nearest police, court or required identification date.
- Keep complete original Punjabi and English messages, voice notes and payment records you lawfully hold; record your explanation separately.
- List what you knew before each payment and what changed later, including work performed, cancellation or repayment discussions.
- Have current papers, conditions and Legal Aid status available, and arrange financial-record review directly with the firm.
Keep the initial website enquiry brief. Do not upload or send sensitive documents through the form; arrange any document review directly with the firm.
You do not need every item before getting in touch. Mention any approaching court or response date.
Common questions
Does being unable to repay a loan automatically make it fraud?
No. A debt or repayment difficulty alone does not establish fraud. Explain how the money was obtained, what was represented and what the records show. Counsel needs to assess the alleged conduct rather than assume that either a debt or an accusation decides the case.
Can I explain a Punjabi voice note instead of replacing it with English text?
Yes. Keep the original recording and explain its context to counsel. Your explanation helps identify the issue but is not a substitute for the evidence or any translation the court requires. Arrange translation separately if needed.
Will repayment guarantee that a fraud charge is withdrawn?
No. Keep any proposal and payment records, follow current conditions and seek advice before making contact or agreeing to terms. A private payment does not cancel your court instructions.
Can I request Punjabi advice before a charge is laid?
Yes. State what police or another person has asked for and any approaching date. The firm can discuss the situation and potential representation; detailed advice and work must be agreed separately.
