Punjabi Criminal Harassment Lawyer in Mississauga

Aftermath Law offers Punjabi consultations for Mississauga clients being investigated or charged with criminal harassment. You can explain a message history, a location-sharing concern or a disputed interaction directly to Dildeep Sahi while keeping the original records available. The starting questions are what conduct is alleged, when it occurred and what restrictions apply now. Consultations are arranged at the Mississauga office by appointment.

Punjabi consultations and court interpretation

Dildeep Sahi provides consultations in Punjabi, English and Hindi. Tell the firm which language you prefer when arranging the appointment. Speaking Punjabi with your lawyer does not make Punjabi the language of the court proceeding or book a court interpreter.

For an Ontario Court of Justice criminal appearance, contact the courthouse before your court date to request an interpreter, or tell the judge or justice of the peace at the appearance. That court provides interpreters without charge. Confirm arrangements separately from your Punjabi consultation. Documents or evidence in another language may require a separate translation; confirm what is needed before paying for one.

Identify the allegation and the law for the dates involved

The description harassment does not identify the whole charge. Read the actual papers and mark the alleged dates and conduct. Current section 264 includes specified communication, following, monitoring and threatening conduct, with mental-element and safety requirements. Safety includes psychological safety. The provision changed in 2026, so counsel must check which version applies to the alleged events rather than use a generic checklist. A message count or a description such as rude does not settle the assessment.

Build a complete message and location-record history

For a digital allegation, keep full conversations you lawfully hold, including messages before and after the passage quoted by police. Identify the account, dates and whether a screenshot omits replies or shows only part of a group exchange. If location sharing or another monitoring activity is questioned, explain what tool was used, by whom and what you actually know about its settings. Preserve the existing records without changing them to make an account clearer. Identify missing material for counsel rather than trying to obtain it through someone else’s account.

Explain Punjabi wording without replacing the source

A Punjabi conversation, voice note or message written in Roman letters may be summarized differently by different people. Keep the original audio or text, identify the language used and mark the particular wording whose meaning you dispute. Explain your understanding privately to your lawyer in Punjabi, separately from any translation supplied by a relative, police or another source. Include the surrounding exchange and any uncertainty about the speaker. Do not edit a message or supply a rewritten version as though it were the original. Counsel can assess the legal relevance and what separate translation work may be needed.

Describe the safety question as well as the disagreement

Make separate notes about the interaction, any request to stop, the surrounding circumstances and what the available records show. Distinguish your personal knowledge from what you later heard about another person’s response. An account that the person was only annoyed, or that they sometimes replied, should be discussed with counsel instead of treated as a complete defence. The required assessment depends on the applicable provision and the full circumstances. Preserve favourable and unfavourable parts of the record together; selective extracts can obscure the question needing advice.

Keep current contact and access restrictions in force

Have the complete undertaking, release order and any later changes ready. If a term prohibits direct or indirect contact, do not send a clarification through a relative or use another account to reach the person. An incoming message or private permission does not amend a binding condition. Identify any practical issue involving work, an address or family arrangements for counsel, while following the existing terms until lawfully changed. Do not visit a restricted place to obtain records or belongings yourself.

Review the evidence before choosing a defence or resolution

If retained for that work, counsel can compare your chronology with police notes, statements and available digital material, identify missing context and assess the allegation’s legal requirements. A disagreement about authorship, meaning or dates needs supporting information rather than an assumed result. Criminal harassment can carry a custodial sentence, but the possible outcome depends on the applicable law, procedure and circumstances. Discuss the options and consequences before instructions about a resolution or trial. If the papers also allege a specific threat, identify that count separately.

Arrange a Punjabi consultation at the Mississauga office

Dildeep Sahi provides consultations in Punjabi, English and Hindi at Aftermath Law’s appointment-only office at 250 Dundas Street West, Suite 402, Mississauga. The free initial discussion concerns your situation, options and potential representation; detailed message review, a legal opinion, negotiations and court attendance require separately agreed work. Keep the first enquiry brief, noting the allegation, next date and preferred language. If you have a Legal Aid Ontario certificate, its coverage must be checked alongside the firm’s conflicts, availability and agreement to act.

Preparing for the first conversation

  • Keep the charge or police request, alleged dates and each current condition together.
  • Preserve complete messages, audio and location records you lawfully hold; identify missing context.
  • Mark disputed Punjabi wording and identify each translation or summary without replacing originals.
  • Separate what you personally know from later information about another person’s response.
  • State the next court or fingerprint date, language preference and work you want considered.

Keep the initial website enquiry brief. Do not upload or send sensitive documents through the form; arrange any document review directly with the firm.

You do not need every item before getting in touch. Mention any approaching court or response date.

Common questions

Does every unwanted message amount to criminal harassment?

No automatic conclusion follows from that description. Counsel must identify the conduct alleged, applicable law and safety and mental-element questions. Keep the full history and dates rather than rely only on the number of messages.

Can I explain Punjabi messages before obtaining a translation?

You can request a Punjabi consultation and identify the passages you want discussed. Keep the original messages or recordings. A consultation does not provide a certified translation or decide what translation the evidence or court process may require.

Should I reply if the other person contacts me first?

Read your current terms first. An incoming message does not itself authorize contact prohibited by an undertaking or order. Preserve it and discuss the wording and any written exception with counsel rather than assuming the condition has changed.

Does the consultation include the full file review or confirm court attendance?

No. The free initial discussion covers your situation, options and possible representation. Further review and attendance must be expressly agreed after the matter, conflicts and availability are checked. Follow your actual court directions while arrangements are discussed.
