Fraud Lawyer in Kitchener
When a fraud allegation involves several payments in Kitchener, a single total can obscure which representation or transaction is disputed. Aftermath Law can discuss fraud defence and review a traceable record of the transfers, communications and later reversals. Keep the original transaction history separate from your calculation of what remains owing.

Give each transaction its own record
List the date, amount, sender, recipient and supporting document already held. Match the relevant message or representation to that entry and identify where the link is uncertain. Do not collapse several transactions merely because they involve the same account. Counsel can review attribution and the alleged dishonest act against the complete evidence.
Keep loss and risk questions open for assessment
Mark payments that were reversed, redirected or disputed, preserving the earlier record and later change. Fraud deprivation can include economic risk; calculating the final balance is not a complete legal answer. Tell counsel how your calculation was made and what records are missing rather than announcing that a zero balance defeats the allegation.
Preserve repayment records without assuming closure
Keep later refunds or settlements in a separate group. Private repayment does not itself determine whether the prosecution continues. Do not revise earlier entries to erase the disputed transaction or contact someone contrary to restrictions to obtain confirmation. Discuss any civil accounting question separately from the criminal count.
Preparing for the first conversation
- Charge wording and the alleged transaction period.
- Transfer-by-transfer record with supporting originals.
- Relevant representations or approvals matched to each entry.
- Reversals, repayments and uncertainty in the calculation.
Keep the initial website enquiry brief. Do not upload or send sensitive documents through the form; arrange any document review directly with the firm.
You do not need every item before getting in touch. Mention any approaching court or response date.
Common questions
Does a zero final balance settle a fraud allegation?
No. The alleged dishonesty and deprivation, including economic risk, need assessment against the actual evidence.
Should I combine similar transfers?
Keep the individual records and explain any summary separately. Counsel needs to trace the events and communications.
Will repaying the disputed total end prosecution?
Not automatically. A private repayment does not itself decide the prosecutor’s response.
