Fraud Lawyer in Waterloo
If a fraud allegation in Waterloo involves a document that was revised, keep each available version and its history. Aftermath Law can discuss fraud defence and review what was represented at the relevant time, who made changes and what records support the transaction. A corrected document does not erase the earlier one or decide the allegation by itself.

Identify the version used at the relevant time
Keep original contracts, forms, invoices or statements already held, recording when each was sent or received. Match them to the transaction date and communications. Distinguish a draft from a delivered version and mark uncertainty. Counsel can compare the alleged representation with what actually existed rather than relying only on the latest copy.
Preserve the change history and explanation
List who made each revision, the reason recorded and any approval or objection. Keep earlier files and surrounding messages rather than overwriting them. Fraud dishonesty and deprivation, including economic risk, need assessment; a clerical explanation or later correction is relevant information, not an automatic defence.
Keep later resolution records separate
Preserve repayments, complaints and settlement correspondence as later events. Private repayment does not itself decide whether prosecution continues. Do not create a retrospective approval or contact a restricted person to improve the paper trail. Explain document gaps to counsel and keep current court directions visible.
Preparing for the first conversation
- Actual count and relevant transaction dates.
- Available document versions and when each was used.
- Original change explanations, approvals and objections.
- Later resolution records and current restrictions.
Keep the initial website enquiry brief. Do not upload or send sensitive documents through the form; arrange any document review directly with the firm.
You do not need every item before getting in touch. Mention any approaching court or response date.
Common questions
Should I keep a superseded document?
Yes. Preserve the relevant earlier and later versions so counsel can assess what existed at the alleged event.
Does correcting an error automatically resolve fraud?
No. The actual allegation, required elements and complete evidence still need assessment.
Can I obtain an approval now to fill a gap?
Do not create a retrospective account or breach restrictions. Explain the original gap and available records to counsel.
