Criminal Harassment Lawyer in Oakville
Aftermath Law provides criminal harassment advice to Oakville clients. Receiving a message after a harassment allegation can create pressure to reply. For defence advice, preserve the message and current terms first; an invitation or request for an explanation does not itself authorize prohibited contact.

Keep the new message and its source
Preserve the full lawful record, date and account information without editing or forwarding it publicly. Explain how you received it and any uncertainty about the sender. A new message is information for review, not proof that the original allegation or current terms no longer matter.
Identify the restriction affecting a reply
Keep complete operative papers and later changes available. Point to the contact, place or other clause you want explained. Do not use a relative, public post or another account to make communication that would contravene the terms.
Describe the proposed response without sending it
Explain the practical question or clarification you want assessed privately. A proposed reply is not permission to send it. Counsel needs the actual allegation and restrictions; people seeking protection rather than defence should identify that role and avoid a form submission if receiving a reply would be unsafe.
Understand the legal questions before choosing a response
The actual conduct category, dates and context matter to a criminal-harassment allegation. A fixed number of messages is not a substitute for legal assessment, and different alleged conduct may raise different questions. Preserve complete communications and identify the source of each account. Current restrictions apply while the allegation is reviewed; do not contact another person to obtain a preferred explanation.
Preparing for the first conversation
- Keep the new message and its source
- Identify the restriction affecting a reply
- Describe the proposed response without sending it
Keep the initial website enquiry brief. Do not upload or send sensitive documents through the form; arrange any document review directly with the firm.
You do not need every item before getting in touch. Mention any approaching court or response date.
Common questions
Does the other person’s new message cancel a no-contact restriction?
No. Keep it available for counsel, but follow the operative terms unless lawfully changed. An invitation is not itself a variation.
Can I send the explanation through a different account?
Do not use another account or person to make prohibited contact. Describe the desired clarification to counsel and have the actual terms assessed first.
Does the number of messages alone decide the allegation?
No. The alleged conduct, dates and context need assessment. Do not apply a fixed message-count rule to every harassment allegation.
Can I delete repeated messages to simplify the account?
Preserve the complete originals. Make a separate chronology or note for counsel, rather than deleting or editing material that may affect the context.
