Assault with a Weapon Lawyer in Oakville
Aftermath Law provides assault with a weapon advice to Oakville clients. If you previously spoke about an alleged object, keep the interview account separate from your present recollection. Counsel needs the questions, answers and surrounding context before assessing how the record relates to the actual weapon-assault count.

Identify the earlier communication and source
Keep the recording, transcript or account lawfully available and identify its date. If you remember a conversation but do not have the record, say so. Distinguish your actual words from another person’s summary or a later explanation of what they meant.
Point to the question and answer together
Identify the passage about carrying, holding or using the object, with the surrounding question and exchange. A short answer may be unclear without that context. Do not edit a transcript or contact a restricted person to agree on a replacement account.
Explain the present concern separately
Describe what you want clarified and the basis for any difference in recollection. Keep the original unchanged. Counsel must assess the underlying assault, object’s alleged role and any separate counts; this preparation does not determine admissibility or establish a complete defence.
Understand the legal questions before choosing a response
An ordinary object can raise a weapon allegation because of its alleged use or intended use. The underlying assault and the weapon-related element need assessment together. Carrying or using an object during an assault is a different question from a separate possession count, and an injury allegation may raise another branch of the provision. Work from the actual counts and preserve the full incident record.

Common questions
Should I replace an earlier answer with what I now remember?
Keep the earlier record unchanged and discuss any difference privately with counsel, identifying the original source and the basis for your present concern. Any proposed correction or further statement to police or another person should be considered with counsel first.
What if disclosure contains only a summary of the interview?
Identify that limit and the passage concerning you. Do not treat a summary as the complete recording or invent missing words; counsel can assess the available record.
Can an ordinary object be relevant to a weapon-assault charge?
Yes. Its alleged use or intended use may matter. Counsel needs the actual count, object description and full circumstances; the item’s everyday name alone does not settle the allegation.
Is a weapon-possession charge the same as assault with a weapon?
No. They raise different legal questions. Keep the wording of each count and identify which conduct and evidence are said to support it.
