Punjabi Drug Offence Lawyer in Mississauga
A drug allegation can raise questions you want to explain privately in Punjabi: what you knew about an item, why it was in a particular place and what happened during a police search. Dildeep Sahi offers Punjabi-speaking criminal-law consultations from Aftermath Law’s Mississauga office. The discussion can identify the charge and the work needing attention without assuming that an arrest establishes possession or that a consultation confirms representation.

Punjabi consultations and court interpretation
Dildeep Sahi provides consultations in Punjabi, English and Hindi. Tell the firm which language you prefer when arranging the appointment. Speaking Punjabi with your lawyer does not make Punjabi the language of the court proceeding or book a court interpreter.
For an Ontario Court of Justice criminal appearance, contact the courthouse before your court date to request an interpreter, or tell the judge or justice of the peace at the appearance. That court provides interpreters without charge. Confirm arrangements separately from your Punjabi consultation. Documents or evidence in another language may require a separate translation; confirm what is needed before paying for one.
Separate possession from trafficking and other allegations
Start with the exact charge and the substance alleged. Possession under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act differs from trafficking or possession for the purpose of trafficking. The applicable substance schedule and any lawful authorization can matter. Do not rely only on a general description such as a drug case or on the quantity remembered from the incident. Explain the papers in the language you prefer and identify whether police are still investigating or charges have already been laid.
Explain your connection to a shared home, vehicle or container
If an item was found in a shared space, describe who used that space, who had access and what you knew about the item. Legal possession can involve more than physically holding something; it can also concern another person’s custody or joint possession in specified circumstances. Ownership alone does not answer every possession question. Give counsel your account in Punjabi, distinguishing what you personally observed from what someone later told you. Preserve existing tenancy, access or communication records lawfully without confronting other occupants.
Record the search and any language difficulty
Identify the place searched, what officers said about their authority and any warrant or property receipt you were given. Note whether you were arrested or detained, asked to speak with a lawyer, or had difficulty understanding a question or caution. A search raises legal questions that require the actual circumstances and record; it is not automatically unlawful because it was upsetting or no warrant was shown to you. Counsel can assess relevant search, seizure and access-to-counsel issues as part of the agreed defence review.
Prepare the evidence questions without handling a suspected substance
Keep police papers, existing photographs, messages and recordings in their original form. Identify the location described in the allegation, the source of each record and any difference from your recollection. Do not bring a suspected controlled substance to the office, move it to demonstrate your account or ask another person to dispose of it. Discuss any immediate concern safely with counsel or the appropriate emergency service. Evidence review may involve substance identification, the police account and the claimed connection to you; detailed work is arranged separately.
Discuss potential consequences and available responses carefully
Consequences vary with the offence, substance and circumstances, and may include imprisonment. A personal-possession allegation and a trafficking allegation must not be treated as having the same legal framework. For an allegation of simple possession, the Act contains rules about considering warnings, referrals and prosecution decisions; these do not promise that charges will be withdrawn. Ask counsel in Punjabi about any proposed response and what further evidence is needed before instructions are given. Do not contact a witness contrary to release conditions to try to settle the matter.
Arrange Punjabi advice at the Mississauga office
Consultations with Dildeep Sahi are available in Punjabi, English and Hindi, with office visits by appointment. State the allegation, any custody concern and the next date when requesting the free initial discussion, and keep sensitive evidence out of the website enquiry. The discussion concerns your situation, options and potential representation. Confirm the firm’s accepted scope before assuming disclosure review or court attendance is arranged. Court interpretation is separate from private Punjabi advice; raise that need with counsel and the assigned court.
Preparing for the first conversation
- Keep the exact charge, substance description and current police or court papers.
- Describe access to the relevant space and what you knew, separating direct knowledge from assumptions.
- Note the search sequence, language used and any request for legal advice.
- Identify existing records without moving or bringing a suspected substance.
- List release restrictions and the next event; arrange sensitive review directly.
Keep the initial website enquiry brief. Do not upload or send sensitive documents through the form; arrange any document review directly with the firm.
You do not need every item before getting in touch. Mention any approaching court or response date.
Common questions
Can I explain a possession allegation in Punjabi?
Yes. Tell the firm that you prefer Punjabi and identify the allegation and next date. Dildeep Sahi can discuss the situation and possible representation; a detailed evidence review requires an agreed scope.
Does finding drugs in a shared room prove they were mine?
That conclusion should not be assumed. Counsel needs the location, access, knowledge and other evidence to assess the possession alleged. Equally, saying an item belonged to somebody else does not automatically resolve every legal possession issue.
Should I bring the item police say was a drug to the consultation?
No. Bring or arrange review of the papers and existing records, not a suspected controlled substance. Explain any unresolved item or safety issue to counsel without handling, moving or disposing of it to demonstrate your account.
Are warnings or referrals guaranteed for a personal-possession charge?
No. The Act contains rules addressing simple-possession allegations, but their application and any prosecution decision require assessment. Do not assume that these provisions erase an existing charge or excuse a required court appearance.
