Punjabi consultations and court interpretation

Dildeep Sahi provides consultations in Punjabi, English and Hindi. Tell the firm which language you prefer when arranging the appointment. Speaking Punjabi with your lawyer does not make Punjabi the language of the court proceeding or book a court interpreter.

For an Ontario Court of Justice criminal appearance, contact the courthouse before your court date to request an interpreter, or tell the judge or justice of the peace at the appearance. That court provides interpreters without charge. Confirm arrangements separately from your Punjabi consultation. Documents or evidence in another language may require a separate translation; confirm what is needed before paying for one.

Separate ownership from the act police allege

Identify the property, who had an interest in it and the alleged act, not only who paid for it. Partial ownership does not automatically prevent a damage offence under section 429. Mischief under section 430 can also concern interference with lawful use or enjoyment. Keep any ownership, occupancy or permission records available and explain the arrangement at the time. Counsel can assess the actual allegation without treating a household or business disagreement as either proof of crime or an automatic defence.

Explain the permission you understood in Punjabi

Tell counsel which person gave an instruction, the words used and any limit on changing, removing or accessing the property. Keep complete messages and voice notes you lawfully possess, including a change in the arrangement before the incident. An everyday description such as our belongings does not decide each person’s legal interests or authority. If the conversation was oral, note your own recollection separately and identify who was present. Do not ask another person to reconstruct permission in a new message or agree to a preferred account.

Use before-and-after records to test the chronology

List photographs, recordings, maintenance records and communications showing the condition before and after the disputed event. For each, note when it was made and what it shows. A photograph may document damage without identifying who caused it; an invoice may concern an earlier fault or later improvement. Mark those questions for review rather than removing an inconvenient record. Keep originals and identify material held elsewhere so counsel can consider lawful preservation or requests. Do not visit a prohibited home or workplace, access someone else’s device or contact a restricted person to collect evidence.

Treat repair discussions and restrictions as separate tasks

Preserve the whole repair request, estimate, agreement or payment record. Discuss whether the proposal concerns restoring an item, replacing it or another financial demand. Mischief may carry imprisonment, and the form alleged and property value affect the penalty framework; a repair quote alone is not the whole assessment. Paying or fixing the item does not automatically end the criminal case. Keep any release or family order available. An invitation to repair the property or retrieve belongings does not itself change a restriction; advice should address a lawful route before a visit or contact.

Identify the next Brampton court instruction and defence question

Have the exact count, current conditions and court or identification notices ready. Tell the firm whether disclosure has arrived and identify the act, timing, permission or attribution you want reviewed. Counsel can examine the available records and discuss the response, further evidence needed and the prosecution position. If your papers identify Brampton Ontario Court of Justice, confirm your event using its official contacts and current directions. Different courts and events have different arrangements; another person’s link or an assumed courthouse does not establish your attendance requirements.

Confirm the Punjabi consultation and scope of assistance

Dildeep Sahi personally provides consultations in Punjabi, English and Hindi. Aftermath Law serves Brampton from its appointment-only office at 250 Dundas Street West, Suite 402, Mississauga; there is no Brampton office. The free initial consultation concerns the situation, options and potential representation. Full disclosure review, advice on repair arrangements and court work must be agreed separately after the firm checks the matter, conflicts and availability. Mention any existing lawyer or Legal Aid Ontario certificate. LAO determines eligibility and authorized work; certificate acceptance and representation must be confirmed with the firm.

Preparing for the first conversation

  • List the property interests and the exact act alleged, keeping ownership and permission records separate.
  • Preserve full original Punjabi exchanges about use, changes or access, and identify when any arrangement changed.
  • Organize lawful condition records by date; distinguish the alleged event from earlier faults, repairs and later improvements.
  • Keep complete repair demands, release or family orders and next required dates available; arrange evidence delivery directly.

Keep the initial website enquiry brief. Do not upload or send sensitive documents through the form; arrange any document review directly with the firm.

You do not need every item before getting in touch. Mention any approaching court or response date.

Common questions

Can I face an allegation involving something I partly own?

Yes. A partial interest does not automatically prevent a damage offence. Explain the ownership, permission and alleged act with the actual records so counsel can assess the charge.

Does a repair estimate prove that I caused the damage?

No. It may describe proposed work or price, but attribution, timing and the surrounding circumstances require separate assessment. Keep the complete estimate and dated condition records.

Can a family agreement let me return to a restricted address?

Do not rely on a private agreement to change a binding restriction. Keep the release terms and any family order available and obtain advice about lawful arrangements. Follow the current terms unless properly changed.

Can a relative translate the whole case for me instead of arranging Punjabi advice?

You can request a direct Punjabi consultation with Dildeep Sahi. Discuss any proposed attendance by another person before sharing sensitive information. A relative’s account does not replace the original evidence, legal advice or separate court interpreter arrangements.
